At the foot of Sainte Victoire, 15 km from Aix en Provence, in the commune of Puyloubier, this domain was bought in 1890 by Aurélien Houchart, a negociant and friend of Cézanne and great-grandfather of Geneviève Quiot. This family domain has been cultivated since Roman times, at some distance from the “Via Aurelia”, from selected vineyards at the foot of Sainte Victoire, the famous mountain of Aix-en-Provence in southern France.
Quiot is often mentioned in the same breath as the Southern Rhone. Quiot owns several vineyards in the important ‘Villages’ in the Rhone, including Vacqueyras, Gigondas and Châteauneuf-du-Pape. However, Quiot not only has domains in the Rhone. The family also owns the beautiful winery Domaine Houchart in Provence, intended for the production of rosé.
