This wine is from the Weinviertel region, bordering Slovakia to the north and Hungary to the east. The Grüner Veltliner is the most important grape variety here. The Austrian wine law has therefore attached an appellation to it: Weinviertel DAC.
The family winery Diem, now in the hands of the 5th generation, is now managed by Gerald Diem. His style of wine making can be called classic. This is undoubtedly due to the internship he followed in Bordeaux during his wine studies.
Many of Gerald’s wines are highly rated in the authoritative Austrian wine guide Falstaff.
Delicious Austrian all-rounder. This is a fresh dry wine with the typical characteristics of a ‘Grüner’: ripe yellow apple, hints of peach, lemon and the characteristic green, spicy tone reminiscent of fennel/celeriac and white pepper.
Delicious aperitif wine to serve with: Asparagus, various fish dishes, poultry, salads and not too spicy Asian dishes.
Super with sushi!
